Beaufort County has been made aware of posts circulating on social media claiming that poll workers will be writing on voters’ ballots, causing the ballot to be disqualified. This information is not correct.

While poll managers will not be writing on or making marks on a voter’s ballot, an inadvertent mark will not cause the ballot to be disqualified. The voting system would still scan the ballot, and voter’s selections would be counted according to established election procedures.

The Beaufort County Board of Voter Registration and Elections encourage voters with questions about South Carolina’s voting process to visit scVOTES.gov or their local elections office for accurate election information.
